The need to monitor production processes arises when there is a requirement for increasingly reliable, automated machinery and production cycles in order to satisfy the continual demands of the market to lower costs. Within this framework, it therefore becomes necessary for the machinery to be supervised by systems that carry out process analysis of the machine tool.

MONITORING MEANS

Optimising the cutting parameters.

Reducing the percentage of scrap parts.

Recognising where there is a malfunction.

Reducing damage caused by collision.

Recognising when tools are broken.

Improving machine tool performances.

It results in improved quality, increased productivity and, at the bottom line, lower costs. MARPOSS is able to propose several products for different monitoring purposes and applications:

VIBRATION MONITORING
With the aim of safeguarding the spindle, the machine, the manufacturing quality and to lengthen tool life, Marposs proposes this system for the control of vibrations and "in-process". To keep a record of functioning by "Black box" function makes it possible to trace back or reconstruct the causes of any malfunctions of the machine tool.

FORCE MONITORING
Today, a considerable part of production process control is still done through force sensors. These systems using this method. These systems, which can be installed on all types of machine and interfaced with any CNC, allow to detect the strain and the forces acting on the tool in a direct and reliable way.

POWER MONITORING
Monitoring the power absorbed by the axis or spindles has proved particularly effective in controlling the variations in the cutting process with rotating tools.

DISPLACEMENT MONITORING
This is a simple, compact and economic system for measuring distances and high resolution displacement without contact with an inductive sensor. A typical application of this system on machine tools is the automatic compensation for thermal drift effects on the axis.
